A week before the visit, Tita Neneng Mangahas, the Center Mother of Anawim, died of heart attack. The FHS community participated in a rosary to pray for her. Even though she passed away, her legacy still lives on through all the workers and volunteers in the center, emulating her generosity and helpfulness on Anawim’s dwellers.
Aside from activities in Tita Neneng’s honor, the FHS community gave away clothes, went to their huts, fed the elderly and conducted a program. Roy and May of the Youth Ministry served as emcee for the entire program. Members of the Kids and Youth Ministries entertained the grandpas and grandmas with gospel songs and dance numbers. Some of the elderly even joined in the joyful dances. The program also included a portion where a grandfather was honored on his 70th birthday.
The program ended with closing remarks of FHS Head Servant, Bro. Tony Tenedero. He emphasized that the community will be back in November 2009 to continue outreaching God’s poor.
